Not thrifty, but definitely teacher-y

Mrs. Jill Byrd reminded me via her facebook status of an article I read last week in the latest Southern Living magazine. It is an article celebrating the 50th anniversary of To Kill A Mockingbird, and it gives great insight on Harper Lee's (who is actually called Nelle by everyone in Monroeville, where she lives) life. It is such an interesting article about her no-frills attitude and the way the town has responded to her celebrity status. Even after 50 years, To Kill A Mockingbird is still such an influential book our culture. I know it opened my eyes to how far our country has come, and how much progress we still need to make.

Happy 50th Anniversary To Kill A Mockingbird! You can read the article here.
